Since 2015, we’ve been obsessed with a tricky problem that has life-changing potential: digital scent recognition. That obsession has led us to creating the world’s first commercially commercially ready digital nose. A huge deal for a space that’s been notorious for false starts and crushed hopes. We are now on a mission to elevate human health by unlocking the digital sense of smell, because we know this technology will change the world as we know it.

UN BREVET QUI NOUS DONNE UN SECOND SOUFFLE
En découvrant que le Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) de la NASA disposait d’une technologie pouvant nous aider à avancé, nous avons frappé à leur porte. Peu après, nous avons obtenu une licence exclusive mondiale sur les brevets relatifs à cette technologie.
LE PROTOTYPE
Nous avons commencé à construire la première version fonctionnelle de notre nez numérique. Presque aussitôt, deux multinationales à l’autre bout du monde ont passé commande. Ce n’était pas encore très beau, mais ça fonctionnait.
LE FLOU
Deux années entières la tête dans le guidon, à perfectionner notre technologie. Intense ? Absolument. Mais le résultat en valait la peine.
NOTRE PROPRE BREVET
L’Office des Brevets et des Marques des États-Unis nous a décerné notre tout premier brevet pour avoir repoussé les limites des systèmes de détection chimique. Pour les curieux : brevet USPTO #10386379B1.
AUX CÔTÉS DES GRANDS NOMS
Stratuscent (ancien nom de Noze jusqu’en 2022) est sélectionnée par BSH (anciennement Bosch Siemens) pour développer une plaque de cuisson intelligente intégrant l’odorat numérique. Une collaboration toujours en cours. Et oui, ça mijote bien, au propre comme au figuré.
TOUS LES REGARDS SE TOURNENT VERS NOZE
Sur la scène du CES, nous avons dévoilé la plateforme que nous développions depuis cinq ans. Ce jour-là, le nez numérique entre dans le grand bain. On pourrait dire qu’on a mis notre Noze partout.
ARRIVÉE DU COVID-19
Le monde s'est soudainement arrêté sous la menace d’un virus aéroporté. Conscients que notre technologie pouvait aider, nous avons concentré nos efforts sur le lancement de notre bibliothèque d’odeurs pour la qualité de l’air intérieur (QAI), afin d’aider chacun à surveiller l’air de son foyer et rester informé, en sécurité, et en bonne santé.
NOUVEAU NOM, NOUVELLE ÈRE
Il y a longtemps, dans un labo pas si lointain, une idée un peu folle est née : numériser l’odorat pour transformer le monde. Nous étions Stratuscent. Beaucoup de choses ont changé, et avec une grosse série A en poche et des ambitions encore plus grandes, nous avons adopté un nom plus percutant et audacieux : Noze.
CAP SUR LA SANTÉ
En sortant de la pandémie et face à la fragilité des systèmes de santé, une évidence s’est imposée : notre technologie pouvait transformer le diagnostic médical. Notre mission se précise : faire du souffle un outil de dépistage accessible partout. On se retrousse les manches… et DiagNoze voit le jour.

Since founding the company in 2014, Dr. Ashok Masilamani has helped develop and secure patents for several groundbreaking inventions including the world’s first aroma monitoring application and the first digital olfaction-powered product—an AI-driven Air Intelligence Device. Ashok oversees the technology and engineering teams at Noze and leads the company’s efforts to revolutionize healthcare through the digital sense of smell. Prior to this, Ashok worked as a deep tech CTO at Applied Nanotools where he orchestrated the development and shipment of cutting-edge products like X-ray lenses and Silicon Photonics chips. He earned his Ph.D. from the University of Alberta and his Master of Engineering from the National University of Singapore. His undergraduate work was completed at the Madras Institute of Technology in India.
Karim is dedicated to driving the company's vision of revolutionizing healthcare by equipping clinicians with the transformative power of odor-based screening and diagnostics. Under Karim's leadership, Noze has transitioned seamlessly from the lab to clinical applications, achieving a remarkable fivefold expansion in scale, and successfully securing over $20 million in capital. Prior to Noze, Karim established one of the first startup studios in Canada in affiliation with one of the country’s largest universities. Karim holds an MBA from Insead in France, and graduated from Concordia University in Montreal with a degree in Finance.
Dr. Mojtaba Khomami Abadi is a recognized leader in the field of artificial intelligence, renowned for his pioneering work in emotion and personality recognition using smart watches and odor identification and quantification through artificial neural receptors. Mojtaba plays a key role in developing Noze’s proprietary machine intelligence solutions by spearheading efforts related to the understanding, design, and development of the information processing tools critical to the performance of Noze’s odor perception platform.
Dr. Jayan Ozhi Kandathil joined Noze in its early stages and played a pivotal role in bridging the gap between advanced research and practical applications. His achievements include transforming patented technology from NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory into an innovative healthcare product — a groundbreaking breath analyzer designed to screen for various health conditions.
Geoff Graham is the Director of Medical Devices at Noze. A leader in the field of healthcare technology and diagnostics, Geoff leads the Noze product team, which successfully created a prototype breath analyzer for early screening and diagnostics for use in clinical studies. Geoff and his team are now focused on integrating Noze's digital olfaction platform into medical devices ready for the market, which has the potential to revolutionize healthcare with early and accurate detection of health conditions through olfaction-based diagnostics.
Code has more than 25 years of experience as a company founder, operating executive and venture investor. He has invested in more than 50 technology companies across North America, and currently serves on the boards of several portfolio companies including Noze, Ceipal, Expeto, Soundpays, Symend, Edly and BlueJ Legal. He also serves as chairman of the board for the Ottawa International Airport Authority. Prior to Mistral, Code was the COO of Zephyr Technology (acquired by Covidien NYSE: COV), an investing Partner at Motorola Ventures and a Principal at Gabriel Venture Partners, both based in Silicon Valley. Code began his career as a radio frequency (RF) design engineer at IBM in Toronto Canada, and CIENA in Baltimore Maryland.

Joseph (Joe) Regan is the Senior Managing Partner for Venture Capital at BDC. With a venture career that spans over two decades, Joe brings deep venture capital expertise to the group. He joined BDC in 2019 from Export Development Canada, where he was head of the cleantech investment team and launched their internal seed investment fund. Previously, Joe was Founding Managing Partner at Bioenterprise, where he created the direction and strategy for an ag-tech venture fund positioned to accelerate agricultural and food-related innovation. Joe has directly invested over one hundred million dollars and served as a member of the Board of Directors of over thirty companies. Joe has an Honours B.Sc. from the University of Guelph and an MBA from McMaster University.
